Foods to Avoid Before Flying

It's not recommended to board an airplane on an empty stomach, but it's equally important to avoid heavy and unhealthy meals before a flight. Many travelers opt for quick snacks during their waiting time, but some foods can cause discomfort and ruin the flight experience. Here are five foods that should be avoided before flying.

Fried foods should be avoided as they are high in fats and oils, making them difficult to digest while flying. Burgers, nuggets, and French fries may be tempting, but they can cause heartburn, acidity, and bloating, while the high salt content can lead to fluid retention.

Although apples are nutritious, the high fiber and sugar content can cause digestive problems like gas and bloating, making them challenging to digest. Instead, it's recommended to have fruits like oranges, papayas, or bananas before a flight as they are light on the stomach and easy to digest.

Spicy food like hot sauces, curries, and pickles should be avoided before a flight as they can cause stomach discomfort, heartburn, and bladder irritation. These foods are high in calories and can cause bad breath. Opt for fresh fruit smoothies and classic wraps that are light and easily digestible.

Broccoli is a healthy vegetable, but it can cause flatulence, gas, and stomach ache while flying. Raw salads should also be avoided as they can trigger indigestion and discomfort. Instead, choose light options like cucumber, carrots, or asparagus.

Beans and legumes contain high fiber, minerals, and protein that can lead to gas and acidity while flying. Additionally, legumes contain a sugar called oligosaccharide that is difficult to break down, causing bloating and discomfort.
